A campaign to specifically monitor cyberbullying in schools has been successful. The campaign was launched by Internet trolling and cyberstalking expert, Jonathan Bishop, when he was a school governor at Parc Lewis County Primary School.

Councillor Jonathan Bishop’s campaign for cyber-bullying to be recorded in schools separate from other bullying has been successful.

Councillor Jonathan Bishop was undeterred when the Chair of Governors, Geoff Herbert, said there would be no additional monitoring of cyberbullying because he and other governors did not know enough about it.

Councillor Bishop is now the parish councillor for Lower Cam in England, and UK Government Minister, The Earl of Courtown, said that recording cyberbullying is now government policy. “The school census guidance provided to schools and local authorities for the 2015/16 academic year explicitly includes cyber bullying in the bullying exclusion category for the first time,” he said. “Prior to this, the guidance for the bullying category only specifically referenced verbal, physical and homophobic bullying.
