School governor in call for monitoring cyberbullying

A Treforest school governor is calling for betting monitoring of bullying in schools where it is aided by electronic devices.

Jonathan Bishop, an Internet trolling expert and former town councillor for Treforest, is calling for action following a freedom of information request to Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, which found that no records were held on ‘cyberbullying’ or ‘Internet trolling’ in schools.

Bishop recently launched the Free Digital Movement, which aims to provide youth equality on the Internet and in society at large.

A spokesperson for the authority told Bishop, “Schools are expected to report bullying incidents to the Authority at the end of each term. Schools are expected to report on the number of incidents, including cyber bullying, but they do not have to provide detailed information on each individual incident of bullying.”

Mr Bishop has now set up an online petition for parents and others who want Internet trolling and cyberbullying monitored to sign up to. Those wishing to do so or to find out more should visit the Free Digital website at:
